The DNV GL certified luminaire 4000 contains a minimum of system components and is maintenance-free.The lighting system is designed for use in both weather exposed and interior areas. The standard breathable concept gives the electrics enhanced protection against moisture and condensation water, thus preventing short-circuits and corrosion and ensures a longer useful life.WISKA has also developed a splitter for use in reefer container logistics that expands the number of reefer container sockets available on board. The PushIn Mobile Splitter is a portable unit that can turn one reefer container socket gang into two.The mobile splitter allows the existing electrical capacity on board to be used by maximising the number of available reefer container sockets without requiring any modifications to the ship’s electrical infrastructure.Another highlight of WISKA at SMM 2014 is computer-controlled CCTV camera surveillance systems designed for the maritime industry. WISKA has a total of three new products to present this year: a flameproof camera system for hazardous areas on board, a pan-and-tilt camera made from stainless steel, and a plastic dome camera of protection type IP 68.All three CCTV innovations are characterised by being fully IP-compatible. They also have advanced Full-HD technology to deliver crystal-clear, high resolution images that go well beyond what analogue cameras can provide. The three camera stations can be operated via POE (Power-over-Ethernet), which means that a single cable is used to transfer data and power to the CCTV system and no additional power supply is required.Apart from their latest products, WISKA is using the SMM venue to showcase their tried and tested products such as WISKA Sprint cable gland system which recently marked 25 years of being in the market. When asked about the secret of the Sprint’s longevity, the WISKA’s Head of Marketing Anja Lange told the World Maritime News reporter that ”the system is very flexible and applicable to various areas, which has allowed it to adjust and to grow from one or two cable glands, to the system we have now over the last 25 years.”When asked about their latest expansion to Asia and the reasons behind the opening of their Shanghai post, Ms Lange said that ‘‘the Asian market is a growing market for WISKA, seeing that the majority of container ships is built in the Asian shipyards.”last_img read more
